"Tornadoes"
If you've ever been in a natural disaster,you've probably never experienced one like a tornado.A tornado is a type of storm with a funnel-shaped cloud of fast rotating winds.Tornadoes are often refered to as twister or cyclones,and come in many shapes,colors,sounds,and sizes.One crazy fact is that tornadoes have been on every continent other than ANTARTICA!I believe that tornadoes do not happen in Antartica because tornadoes usually happen when cool and warm air mix together.Especially since there is no warm air to mix with the cool air in Antartica,there shouldn't be any tornadoes.These natural disasters mostly occur in the United States.An average tornado can last for a few minutes and travel from 30-70 miles per hour but EXTREME tornadoes can travel from 100-300 miles per hour.Research says that tornadoes often occur between 3-9 pm,but tornadoes can happen at anytime.Tornadoes can strike quickly and can also move in any direction.Also,tornadoes appear transparent until debris and dust are picked up.The 7 types of tornadoes are a multiple vortex,waterspout,landspout,gustnado,dust devil,fire whirl,and a steam devil.
Before A Tornado:

Make an emergency kit(food,water,ect.)

Be alert and listen to the Weather Radio for any weather changes

Get shelter immediately

Protect your head
Danger Signs:
-
Dark or sometimes greenish sky

Large hail
-
A large,dark,lowing cloud(particularly rotating)

Loud roar(similar to a freight train)
During A Tornado:

Seek shelter in a structure such as a school or a hospital-go to a safe room,cellar,or a basement

Stay away from corners

Do not open windows
-
Homes offer little protection from tornadoes,so go somewhere safer

Get into a vichle if outside,and watch out for flying debris
-
Stay in a flat location if inside,ouside,or in a car
-
Basements and underground areas are the safest places to be during a tornado
